Structural & Copy Editing

A lot of what I do is structural editing (sometimes called developmental editing). That's when you've written a rough draft but it needs to be better organized, with a clearer tone and cleaner language. I'll reorder, add, or omit sections or chapters to improve the narrative and shape the overall message.

Copy editing comes after structural editing. Copy editing corrects grammar, punctuation, spelling, consistency, and style for clarity and accuracy.

I've done structural and copy editing for everything from a restaurant menu to academic papers to books. If you're not sure about having a piece of writing edited in this way, send me what you've got so far. I'll take a look at it at no charge. I'll tell you what I think it needs.
